A young Irish fashion designer was very surprised to receive a letter from First Lady Michelle Obama last week. In an article in the Independent.ie , Claire O'Connor gives an account of how she forwarded two dresses to the American Embassy in advance of the First Lady and President Obama's trip to Ireland in May. Ms. O'Connor admits she was shocked to receive a reply because she did not put a return address on the package she sent. In the letter, Mrs. Obama thanked Claire "for her generous gift" and said how much she appreciated her thoughtfulness. Ms O'Connor notes that the letter was signed by the First Lady and goes on to say: "Obviously, as regards fashion designers, Michelle is the one person in the world every designer wants to be acknowledged by."
