The Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC has a new exhibit opening this Saturday "Something of Splendor: Decorative Arts from the White House". The objects on display represent more than 200 years of presidential history and have been organized in honor of the 50th anniversary of the White House Historical Association. There are four items in the exhibit that were featured in First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy's Tour of the White House in 1962. The quilt that First Lady Grace Coolidge made (I did a blog post about it awhile back) is also among the items on exhibit. Many of the treasures have not been seen outside of the White House before. As part of the exhibit there is a video featuring first ladies Laura Bush and Rosalynn Carter sharing their memories of the White House. The exhibit will run until May 6, 2012.
