Access to the White House grounds is happening this weekend, October 18 and 19, as the White House opens its gate for the Fall garden tour. All one needs is a ticket which is free. The National Park Service will begin distributing free, timed tickets (one ticket per person) at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion located at 15th and E Streets Northwest on both Saturday (the 18th) and Sunday (the 19th) beginning at 9:00 a.m. Ticket distribution is on a first-come, first-served basis and a ticket is needed even for small children.
Once inside the gates, visitors to the White House can tour the Rose Garden, the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, the Children's Garden and the White House Kitchen Garden, all of which have been featured at one time or another on this blog. For further details about what items visitors will not be allowed to bring onto the White House grounds such as backpacks or food to name a few, please check here. If the weather does not cooperate, the event may be cancelled so this phone number (202) 456-7041 is the one to call to check on the status of the Fall tour.
