Today is the anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. On that fateful day First Lady Jackie Kennedy wore a pink suit, which was a knock-off of a Chanel original. It was not the first time Jackie Kennedy had wore the suit but it would be the last. Following President Kennedy's death she refused to change the blood-stained suit as she stood with Lyndon Johnson when he was sworn in as president. After the events of that tragic day, Mrs. Kennedy sent the suit to her mother's house where it stayed in a box until daughter Caroline Kennedy made a gift of the suit to the National Archives where it remains in a climate controlled area. Ironically, the pink suit is kept in the same building as the clothes of Kennedy's assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald.
